The Portuguese Cancer League
The Portuguese Cancer League (Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro – LPCC) is a private non-profit non-governmental organization, declared by law of public utility (relevant social aim), founded in April 1941. It relies on hundreds of dedicated volunteers from all over the country to help with our fundraising activities and support to the patients.
The League major fields of activity are:
- Health education and cancer prevention campaigns;
- Health professional training/information;
- The national Breast Cancer Screening Programme;
- Psychological and financial assistance and support to patients and their families;
- Promotion of the League Reach to Recover Support Group (Movimento Vencer e Viver)
- Fundraising for cancer awareness and education;
- Financial support and participation in scientific research projects;
- Palliative Care programs and units;
- To collaborate with national and international health/oncology related entity.
